Pediatric Epilepsy Research and Clinical Trials

Stanford School of Medicine is a world-renowned center for epilepsy research. The Pediatric Epilepsy Clinic at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford benefits from the rich research environment at Stanford.

Innovation and specialized studies

The constant exposure to basic and translational scientists working to identify novel causes of epilepsy and new therapeutic targets allows for more rapid movement of treatment trials to patients. We always are asking how we can improve the lives of children with epilepsy. Our research efforts focus on bridging the gap between scientific discovery and bedside care:

  • Rapid translation: Moving laboratory discoveries into clinical treatment trials more efficiently.
  • Targeted research: Identifying novel causes of epilepsy and developing specific therapeutic targets.
  • Synaptopathy Clinic: We are actively investigating rare conditions, such as our natural history study for children with STXBP1-related disorders.
